Rotary National Science & Technology Forum

For details see text below.

In January 168 of New Zealand’s Top Science Students spent 2 weeks of January at a special Forum in Auckland, prior to starting their last year at High School.

The top students are selected for their grades across New Zealand, then interviewed by Clubs. The best of them are then assessed by District- who then put forward their selection to the forum. The successful students receive financial assistance from Rotary to attend the Forum.

A RSTF Trust runs the programme- led by Rotarians and supported by Senior Academic staff.

The Universities of Auckland, AUT, Massey and RMIT (Melbourne Institute of Technology) combine to present 14 diverse and stimulating academic sessions & experiences in a wide range of sciences & technologies. This is augmented by visits to technology enterprises.

The central purpose is to widen the horizons of our best science students and assist them to make the best decisions about their future direction.

The students were extremely stimulated, excited and grateful. Two were selected to represent New Zealand at an International Science Forum in London- later this year. One was Connor Kennedy from Queenstown, the middle photo above.

This prestigious programme has been run by Rotary for 28 years. Lifting the aspiration and assisting our best students choose their best direction.

Peter Best  has run the programme for 17 years with great professionalism, and the Students all showed a rare grace.[See photo on right above]
