Interact

Students between the ages of 12 to 18

Interact is strong in Auckland and the Pacific and is usually associated with a school but community Interact clubs can also be formed.

Interact is basically a happy mix of a service club and a social society, a little of both but not too much of one. Teens can mingle amongst one another whilst managing beneficial projects. The Interact Club, on a whole is a stepping stone for teenagers to bring them into the adult world in terms of character, social stability and management capabilities.

Interact stands for International Action and is a club for young people ages 12-18. It carries out projects based on four main elements, Community Service, Finance, International Understanding and Club Service.

Interactors want to join together to tackle the issues in their community that they care most about.

Through Interact, these young people can:

  • meet for fun and friendship
  • connect with others in their community or school
  • carry out hands-on service projects - organize at least two service projects a year: one that benefits their community and one that encourages international understanding.
  • make international connections and learn about the world
  • have the opportunity to students for experience and training in leadership and citizenship
  • develop leadership, communication and organisational skills through hands-on experience
  • again, have fun!

Interactors learn the importance of:

  • developing leadership skills and personal integrity
  • demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
  • understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
  • advancing international understanding and goodwill

While Interact clubs receive guidance from individual Rotary clubs, they govern and support themselves.
