The first Passport Club in our District is now a reality and is exciting.  This is a reformatted and rebranded Pohutukawa Coast Rotary now called the Pohutukawa Coast Rotary Passport Club.  An interest meeting was held on Thursday 26 September at Pepperjacks where the club received applications to join that would double its ‘membership’ with new additions being transferring Rotarians, returning Rotarians. and those new to Rotary.

The following are some points describing the club:

• Fits within our time as well as with our family, work and life commitment
• Flexibility to meet the demands of our busy life
• Affordability – about 1 cup of coffee a week ($240/pa)
• Modern technology using Zoom / Facetime for regular online meetings
• Not traditional style club
• Has the same privileges and rights as Rotarians in any club
• Social every quarter
• Service above self – recommended a minimum of 30 hours Rotary service activities that can be taken anywhere

Importantly, the first event for the new Passport club is already in place being the Rotary Allfit Coastal Run on 3 November with proceeds to youth projects.
