Starting mid-March, immediately after the national membership seminar, there is a national Facebook membership campaign that will run for three months and more via the national Facebook site at www.facebook.com/rotarynz .  The campaign themes are: young professionals, business leaders, recently retired, alumni, current Rotarians (general) with specific messages and resources aligned to each group.

It is all designed to be transferable to club level where the basic content can easily be edited to be specifically relevant for the club and its target market using text and pictures that reflect what the club actually does and is proud of.

One club is already collecting pictures to use and planning to approach members to get testimonials but with a specific theme to each that will then match the campaign themes.  They will not be expecting to get all the testimonials in one rushed period and will probably do this by way of a face-to-face or phone interview rather than the rarely successful remote (email) request. Will be fun as members love to share – get their photo as well.  First off will be club president and president elect (leading by example of course).

Another aspect is to ask members with Facebook to help by sharing specific Facebook posts from the club Facebook to their own personal Facebook page which will reach their Facebook friends/circle of influence.  There are many members who regularly use Facebook but equally there many who are not especially interested in Facebook yet have one that has accumulated large followings of friends.  Everyone who helps by sharing a post to their personal Facebook page substantially increases the success of the club membership Facebook campaign.

Of course this will generate some membership inquiries that the membership coordinator will need to be prepared to then turn into actual new members.

There will be more information coming to clubs that is in the final stages of being prepared but points to note are:
  • The material, whether the guides to clubs or the campaign posts on the RotaryNZ Facebook page that you can share are professionally created by a specialist in social media.
  • To access these all you need to do is ‘Like’ the RotaryNZ Facebook page (personally and by the club Facebook) and don’t forget to ‘Like” your club Facebook page as well.

HUGE benefit, really EASILY
