A group of 7 Rotary Youth Exchange students from Argentina, Austria, Canada, Denmark, France and Germany and the local ROTEX (Returned exchange students) group have combined to raise more than $8,500 for Emergency Response Kits.
Every year, the overseas students are asked to raise enough money each to fund one ERK – these cost approximately $600 each.  In the 2016/17 year the students raised about $3,000 through a variety of innovative means – from movie nights to auctioning off their hair.  They then combined with ROTEX to hold a quiz evening at Edgewater College.  The evening was themed as “Heroes and Villains” and was an outstanding success. There were a large number of auction prizes and a lot of fun was had on the night with the exchange students providing answers to teams in trouble – for a fee – and also providing supper, again for a fee.  The total amount raised from the evening was $5,500.
A cheque for $8,500 was presented by the students and Stuart Rowe, Chair of the RYE committee, to outgoing District Governor Roger Harvey at the District Changeover breakfast.
