Since before the Lockdown and continuing has been a team of Rotarians from all six NZ-based Districts who have been working to provide guidance to Districts, clubs and Rotarians on how to stay connected with each other and motivated (engaged) through this crisis.

The main resource page is at https://www.rotaryoceania.zone/page/covid-19-(coronavirus)-information which is linked to from the District and Rotary Oceania webpages.  This uses links to resources rather than have a page that is stuffed full of information that is hard to absorb.

It is important to note that both the Rotary Oceania Facebook ( https://www.facebook.com/rotaryoceania/ ) and the D.9920 Facebook pages ( https://www.facebook.com/rotarydistrict9920/ ) have additional ideas and resources that you are likely to find very useful and interesting.

Examples from Facebook include;
  1. every Saturday there is a Rotary Learning Center ( https://learn.rotary.org )course promoted and these are easy to access and complete (the course on Building Rotary’s Public Image is 15 minutes for example) and the post includes links to support resources
  2. every Sunday there is a suggestion for a Ted Talk or Podcast that can be listened to as a interesting substitute to the normal club Guest Speaker.  These stay with topics relevant to Rotary.

Please share the posts from these Facebook pages to your personal and club Facebook pages.  They are both a source or easy posts and good information to keep your members interested.  While the Rotary Facebook pages can be viewed without a Facebook account, and account makes for easier viewing.  Please encourage members to look at the posts on Rotary Facebook sites.  If they are not interested in “using” Facebook remind them that they do not have to do any posts themselves, just use to view other Facebook pages.

As you view Rotary Oceania’s Covid-19 Information and Resource Page you will note a link to Rotarians Experiencing Distress at https://www.rotaryoceania.zone/page/rotarians-in-need .  This relates to members of our Rotary family (Rotarians and Rotaractors) caught by the travel restrictions of the crisis and unable to get home and having to shelter in place, often un very poor circumstances.  Please have a look at the page and see if your club can help a little.

An increasing number of clubs are trying out online options to meet with members and these are working well.  If you have not yet tried this ... give it a go.  There is a huge amount of advice as to how to use platforms like Zoom but for a simple meeting Just Do It ... these are easier to use, even for first timers, that it may appear from the proliferation of guides.

During the Lockdown the ability of clubs to actually delivery projects is extremely limited, but it is a good time to plan for when the Lockdown is lifted.  Please share your project ideas and suggestions with the rest of us by sending to colin_robinson@rotaryoceania.zone and keep an eye on the Rotary Oceania’s Covid-19 Information and Resource Page where there will be a link to ideas collected over time.

As mentioned, now is a good time to plan the club’s future and this should include improving the content and use of your website and social media.  Remember that there is a wealth of resource via https://www.rotaryoceania.zone/page/publicity-hub and the District Committees have people with a little spare time on their hands to help you if you contact them.
