Context:
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is our Point of Difference and our 5-Star Rated Charity of Choice.
There is giving to the TRF and granting of funds based on the seven areas of focus:
- Peacebuilding and conflict prevention
- Disease prevention and treatment
- Water, sanitation, and hygiene
- Maternal and child health
- Basic education and literacy
- Community economic development
- Environment
TRF granting is allocated through District Designated Funds (DDF) and Global Grants (GG).
A District is allowed one Disaster Response Grant per year of up to $US30,000.
Currently Disaster Response Grants are being awarded for projects in the Ukraine.
Annual DDF is based on the Annual Giving total from clubs to TRF from 3 years ago. This is divided amongst Clubs for Project applications received on 1st July of the new Rotary Year.
Zone 8 (Australia, NZ, and the Pacific Islands) has 50 approved Global Grants.
To date District 9920 has 30 approved Global Grants, with 2 additional Global Grants awaiting approval from Rotary International. The majority of these District Global Grants are focused on projects in the Pacific.
In addition, 2 Global Grant projects from the disestablished Francophone E Club have been re-allocated to the Rotary Club of Manukau City Sunrise.
