Cyclone Yasa - Appeal and Communiques
Cyclone Yasa was one of the most severe in many years.  Rotary clubs in Fiji have immediately activated their community emergency response support plans in consultation and in accordance to established plans managed by Rotary Fiji but taking into account Covid-19 restrictions in place within Fiji.  Pre-positioned Emergency Response Kits (ERKs) have been distributed.   The Rotary clubs in Fiji have used conference calls to discuss the most urgent support their communities need and the best way for Rotary to implement this and from this District 9920 has launched an urgent Appeal for which details are detailed on this page below. This page will continue to have content added as relevant.
I can't imagine what it is like to have the roof torn off your family home and your lives and possessions upended right on Christmas.  But at least we can help get that roof back on to enable the start of a return to normality.  What a gift to give at Christmas!

General News Items:
Some Good News from Fiji's Taveuni Island. Although they took a huge hit from Cyclone Yasa, damage to buildings was very little due to the community's preparedness and that "Build Back Better" lead by Taveuni Rotary in recent years is paying dividends. There has been severe crop and soil damage which will impact further on the community suffering from high unemployment as a result of Covid.
